The humanitarian situation for people in South Sudan remains dire. By the end of the year, the number of people in need reached an all-time high of 8.3 million, compared to 7.2 million and 7.5 million at the same time in 2018 and 2019, respectively. A legacy of violence, political tensions and underdevelopment additionally continues to push more people to vulnerability and, at the same time, undermine humanitarian efforts.
